The problem

“Our biggest problem was that we couldn't control access — and it happened quite often. Members would walk straight into the gym without checking in at reception: either they were friends of ours and we felt awkward asking them for a membership, or they were friends with the staff. We were losing money because they were using the gym without an active membership and nobody was checking.” Personal relationships made the rule impossible for people to enforce.
